Exhibiton Design + Texts + Branding

Curated by Teo Sandigliano, Nèo exhibition presented the first selection of nine (8+1) young Italian designers at Espace Grivel, Courmayeur: Giuseppe Arezzi, Guglielmo Brambilla, Caracol, Matteo Di Ciommo, Matteo Guarnaccia, MAIS Project (Matteo Mariani and Isato Prugger), Giulia Soldati, Alain Zanchetta and Alessio D’Ellena. The event was part of the first Courmayeur Design Weekend, 6 / 9 February 2020.
The selection denotes how in a complicated national and economic context, young people manage to emerge, generating creative processes, involving new actors and unusual realities. Heterogeneity and contrast between the projects on show are an example of how Italian creativity is able to adapt to the ever-changing demands of Contemporary Design and the multidisciplinarity of the discipline. Each designer / studio is connected to a specific theme: from handcraft production to innovation, from Additive Manufacturing for the industrial sector to Design for All, passing through anthropological research on cultural, culinary and social themes.

​La mostra Nèo, curata da Teo Sandigliano, ha presentato presso l’Espace Grivel di Courmayeur la prima selezione di nove (8+1) giovani designers italiani under 35: Giuseppe Arezzi, Guglielmo Brambilla, Caracol, Matteo Di Ciommo, Matteo Guarnaccia, MAIS Project (Matteo Mariani e Isato Prugger), Giulia Soldati, Alain Zanchetta e Alessio D’Ellena. L’evento si è svolto durante il primo Courmayeur Design Weekend, dal 6 al 9 febbraio 2020.
La selezione ha evidenziato come in un contesto complicato anche a livello nazionale ed economico, i giovani riescano a emergere generando anche processi creativi, coinvolgendo nuovi attori e realtà inconsuete. L’eterogeneità delle opere e il contrasto presente tra i progetti esposti ha mostrato come la creatività italiana riesca ad adattarsi alle richieste sempre dierenti del Design Contemporaneo e alla multidisciplinarietà della disciplina.
Ogni designer/studio è collegato ad un tema specifico: dalla produzione artigianale all’innovazione, dall’Additive Manifacturing per il settore industriale al Design for All, passando per la ricerca antropologica su temi culturali, culinari e
sociali.
